Carnival Songs of the Stars
Chapter 10: Explanations and Tidbits
After writing the whole of my fanfic as well as the author's notes I believe there are still a few things I have to clear up. To my dismay there were a few things I took for granted and then realized that not everyone has the same knowledge I as do. Not that I'm saying I'm really smart or anything, I'm pretty scatter brained, and forgetful, but what I took as common knowledge really isn't.
First I would like to clear up a couple of the musical terms I used that not everyone knows.
Staccato: it means detached. In other words the notes are played choppy like. stacc.
Crescendo: A gradual increasing in tone.
Accent: Emphasize or stress on a single note. > ^.
Jazz and Thong's main ship the Zydeco is named after a style of music that came out of New Orleans years ago. If you go there, your sure to hear it. I would also like to say that the songs in this story, or more like the main one, is actually called "Voices" and it's from the movie Macross Plus. It's not mine, and I don't claim it as mine.
When I was about to write this story, I
couldn't think of any names for the characters, and, at this time, I would like to thank
my good buddy Marcus Wade, or Gohan16san, for his help. I haven't been into
Dragonball/Z/GT for very long, and he helped me with all this stuff. Anyway, back to the
point. I figured that everyone in the show had a name that played off of food or
underwear...except Piccolo. That's when I though, Piccolo...hummm...it could be one of
three things. It's either I play on the word pickle, the Italian word for
"little", or the musical instrument. Thus I went with the musical instrument
choice. That's where I got Jazz Blues and Harmony Blues, but I also liked the whole
underwear thing so I made her nickname Thong. Now with the other two girls, Sakura
Hoshino, and Umi Mare, I thought of the things that categorized them. Sakura is really
traditional, so I took some what traditional names from some other characters I liked,
like Sakura from Sakura Wars, and Hoshino, from Ruri in Martian Successor Nadesico. Umi on
the other hand was something like that as well. Umi is very water orientated, so Umi, the
Japanese word for sea, and Mare, the Italian word for sea, was created that way.
TaKeRu, is kinda an accident. I couldn't come up with a name and I happened to look at one
of my little brother's Digimon cards and saw the name Takeru "T.K."
Takaishi...and there you go, that's how I got that name. JaHa, KaRa, JaGa, KaNa, JaLa,
just a bunch of letters I threw together and happened to fit. :-)
I also tried to stick with the whole music and dance thing with the chapter names as well. If I were to write the sequel, I would do the same as well.....
Well, I hope that cleared up some concerns and questions you may have asked yourself, but were to lazy to e-mail me about, although I still love getting e-mail about just about anything. So, if you would like me to continue the Adventures of Thong-chan and the Z team, just drop me a line, I have a great idea for one, and Marcus gave me an idea for the sequel to that one as well.
